ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Chief General Raheel Sharif called on US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public relations (ISPR), COAS expressed his serious concerns over recent US drone strikes inside Pakistan, targeting late Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour. “The COAS warned US envoy that the recent US drone strike is detrimental to bilateral relations between the two countries and are counter-productive for the ongoing peace process for regional stability,” said ISPR. “The situation arising after US drone strike in Balochistan on 22 May 2016 came under discussion,” read the statement. General Raheel Sharif told US envoy that Pakistan’s efforts, successes, and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism have been unparalleled.
