AIMAN INAM LONDON: Investigators in a fresh study have pointed out that people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are more prone to have depression due to the irritation occurred in the brain zone. In addition, MS is a progressive neurological chaos that affects the spinal cord and intellect. It triggers scores of disabilities and lead to demise eventually. In this context, the study further maintained that depression in MS patients was linked more usually by means of eminent provocative markers and hippocampal pathology, the scientists found out. Study senior author Alessandro Colasanti from King’s College London held: “We also discovered that more inflammation was associated to more severe symptoms of depression.” He further added: “This study, combining two advanced complementary brain imaging methods, suggests that the inflammation of the hippocampus affects the brain function and causes depression.” Moreover, an inflammation of the hippocampus, a part of the brain associated in the origin and maintenance of depression, was discovered to change its function and contribute to the warning signs of depression.
