SANA MAHMOOD WUERZBURG: The July 18th (Afghan or Pakistani) Riaz attacked the commuters here at 19:15 GMT with an axe and a knife travelling between Treuchlingen and Wuerzburg in Bavaria. Axe-attacker Riaz who was ten years younger than May attacker has been described as ‘calm and even-keeled…devout Muslim who did not appear to be radical or a fanatic’. Furthermore, Joachim Herrmann, interior minister of Bavaria State has stated: “According to the investigation thus far, there was no evidence on site to point to him belonging to the Islamist network”. On the other hand the Minister told that a hand-painted ISIL flag was found in the room where Riaz used to put up. Meanwhile, Amaq news agency (that claims to be affiliated with IS) claimed that Riaz was their ‘fighter’ who had ‘carried out the operation in answer to the calls to target the countries of the coalition fighting the IS’. A video was also released by Amaq later released what it claims is a video of the train assailant, heard saying he is one of the group’s fighters and that he intends to carry out a suicide attack in Germany.
