Medical student who was not allowed to take exams committed suicide

AIMAN INAM   KARACHI: A final-year medical student has burnt himself to death here on Monday, when university did not let allow him to appear in the examination for being late. Abdul Basit, 27, was a student at the Hamdard College of Medicine and Dentistry, affiliated with Hamdard University. As per the details, the victim arrived at North Nazimabad campus about one-and-a-half hour late, due to traffic jam. But the management did not permit him to appear in the examination. Frustrated,  he went outside, drew fuel from his car and burnt himself. He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, which referred him to the Civil Hospital’s burns ward where he expired during treatment.
