MUMBAI: Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar’s crime thriller Rustom raced past 100 crore ($15 million) in its second weekend, easily retaining top spot despite competition from a bunch of Hollywood, Hindi, and regional releases, according to Forbes report. “Rustom, the Tinu Suresh Desai-directed film about a Navy Commander who is accused of killing his wife’s lover, is Kumar’s sixth hit to enter the 100 crore club and his third to reach that pinnacle this year following Airlift and Housefull 3. In its first week, the courtroom drama netted 90.90 crore ($13.6 million) in India, the second biggest debut for a Hindi title this year behind Salman Khan’s Sultan, and 25.31 crore ($3.8 million) overseas. Playing on more than more than 1,850 screens, the film minted 17 crore ($2.55 million) over the weekend, reaching 108 crore ($16.2 million), overtaking Housefull 3 to become the third highest Hindi earner this year,” the report said. However, Akshay Kumar or ‘Akki’ fans are hoping Rustom to display enough stamina to overtake Rowdy Rathore’s 131 crore ($19.7 million) to become the highest-grosser of Akki’s career. Rustom’s next competitor Happy Bhag Jayegi claimed the second spot in this week’s top earning movies. A comedy of errors about a runaway bride starring Diana Penty, Ali Fazal,
