Myanmar’s bid to expand its defense industry by manufacturing JF-17 Thunder

M. M. ALAM YANGON: Myanmar Air Force (MAF), that has ordered sixteen single-engine Sino-Pak JF-17 Thunder two years ago, is presently negotiating with Pakistan apropos the possibility of manufacturing the same here. MAF is in the process of phasing out the 1990  fleet of F-7 M Airguard and A-5C Fantan. The first of the 16 JF-17 Thunder (Block II and probably III variant) ordered by MAF will be inducted into service this year.
