M.M.A KARACHI: One of the major arteries of this Metropolis is called Rashid Minhas Road. It runs all the way from Shahrahe Faisal passing through Cantonment area, Gulshane Iqbal and Azizabad etc to join the Super Highway. And yes the new Imtiaz Super Market too is located on the same road drawing millions. Passing through this road very few experience the emotion that made Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas damage control of the jet he was flying in and crash it over fifty kilometers from the Indian border. He wanted to prevent (instructor pilot) Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman from taking the aircraft to India. Karachiite Rashid Minhas was born in 1951 and got his early schooling at St. Mary’s Cambridge School Rawalpindi. He was commissioned as PAF Pilot Officer in 1971 the year he gave his life in the line of duty. Earning the highest medal of courage Nishane Haider at 20 he got his name entered into the history of Pakistan as the youngest recipient of the award.
