ALAM KARACHI: In order to revive the Franco-Pak parliamentary relationship, after at least ten years, a delegation comprising members of French ‘Senat’ visited Pakistan in the second week of April, manifesting the West’s optimism apropos this country. The three-member delegation included the Vice President of the Senat Sénatrice Françoise CARTRON who represents Gironde. She is a member of the Committee for Culture Education and Communication. Then there was Sénatrice Patricia MORHET – Richaud, who represents Hautes-Alpes (a province in southern France named after the famous mountain range). She is part of the Committee for Social Affairs, member of the delegation for women’s rights and equal opportunities between men and women. She is also a member of the Senate’s delegation for enterprises/businesses. The only male senator Pascal Allizard , who happens to be the Chairman of a 17-member Pak-France friendship group, represents Calvados in the Senate. Besides being a member of the European Affairs Committee Allizard is also a Member of the Committee for Culture, Education and Communication. On their arrival here at the Metropolis, Senators attended a cheque-giving ceremony at Alliance Française (French Cultural Centre) de Karachi (AFK).
