Stress can cause type 2 diabetes

AIMAN INAM NEW DELHI: Scientists have concluded  that stress that increases blood sugar levels can lead to type 2 diabetes. According to the study, stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol augment levels of sugar in blood besides blood pressure and pulse speed. Dr. Sunil Mittal, Senior Psychiatrist and Director at Cosmos Institute of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences has said, “Both physical and emotional stress can prompt an increase in these hormones which result in an increase in blood sugar.” Additionally, by bringing some simple changes in everyday schedule, including yoga and exercise, one can cope up with stress and keep diabetes under control.
